Residential Design
We work in the area of new construction as well as remodeling existing homes, with a preference for older homes. We’ve worked in new and older structures, high-rise condominiums, “Moffitt” houses, second homes, cabins, and apartment buildings. Although our focus is kitchen and bathroom design, often times the project involves adjacent rooms or entire floors. We supply quality cabinets, marble countertops, quartz countertops and granite countertops in Iowa City and the surrounding area.
10th Floor Condo Kitchen
Kitchen remodel features: anti-fingerprint laminate, low maintenance brushed granite countertops, trimless flush outlets, full-height back-painted glass backsplash with wire mesh interior and an integrated range hood.
Finishes & Materials provided by MRKBD: Bertch Cabinets with Formica FENIX “cacao orinoco” laminate, brushed silver pearl granite, natural walnut countertop, and Bocci 22 system trimless outlets.

1940’s House
Kitchen remodel reusing existing antique sink, created a new opening between dining room and kitchen for ease of access between rooms, and relocated appliances to improve work flow. Locally-made Bertch cabinets in “Olive” finish, honed marble countertops and 4x4 Fireclay tile backsplash.

Sleeping Porch to Bathroom Suite
1880’s house - created two bathrooms from one, converted existing sleeping porch into main bathroom suite overlooking backyard. Luxurious bathroom remodel in an historic neighborhood.

Contemporary Kitchen
Family had outgrown the existing kitchen, leaving the space underused. A few highlights include: the addition of windows flanking the fireplace to allow for more natural light, back-painted glass cabinet doors to add a contemporary touch, and a coffee center to the left of the fridge. European-style frameless cabinets from Bertch kitchen cabinets with MSI “Glacier White” quartz countertops provided by Mark Russo Kitchen and Bath Design.
